    Hello

We are using the OpenProvider Plugin for domain registrations and have Who Is Privacy enabled for some TLDs, we tried to enable it for other TLDs however the option to enable it is gone. On TLDs that already have it enabled the option is there as expected, however even when we try to add new TLDs the option is not there.

Any help with this would be appreciated.

    Thank you
    Aaron

    Hello, Aaron.

The whois privacy protection is available not for all TLDs. Only the following TLDs support the feature: com, net, org, biz, info, name, tv, cc, me.

    Hi Vadim

Thanks for the reply, given that OpenProvider themselves support Who Is Privacy on m every gTLD and some ccTLDs this seems like an unnecessary restriction. Could this restriction be removed?

    Thank you
    Aaron

    Hi Aaron

Yes, it's possible to remove this restriction.
    Edit the function
    Code:
    can_whois_privacy() in perl module HSPC::MT::Plugin::DM::OpenProvider
so that it always returns 1.

Where exactly is the file that needs to be edited as I've never modified plugins before?

    Thanks
    Aaron

    Aaron,

You can find module location using command:

    # find /usr -name OpenProvider.pm | grep MT

When edit finished execute the following command:

    # service hspcd restart

    Hi Vadim

Thank you for the reply, that seems to have worked. I'd like to suggest that this change be implemented in a future OBAS update for the following reasons:
    1. As seen above the domains which OpenProvider support Who Is Privacy on is constantly expanding, with my understanding being their aim to eventually support it on all domains
    2. It doesn't make sense to only show Who Is Privacy configuration for only a few domains as the configuration simply asks if the hosting provider would like that domain to have Who Is Privacy enabled (and at what price)
    3. It should not be up to Odin to decide which TLDs a provider can offer Who Is Privacy on, that should be up to the provider and registrar/registry
    Best regards
    Aaron
