I'm attempting to run PPA on Azure but I only have one IP to work with, the public IP address. It's not possible to communicate between servers using the internal IP addresses as they are not necessarily on the same sub net. How can I get PPA and service nodes running on a single IP address per machine?

An example of the error I get when setting up a service node is

Failed to execute command 'cscript /Nologo http_download.js http://<private ip address>/tarballs/Win32Bin/support.cab'. Check logs in 'c:\POA_Deploy' at host '<public ip address>' for more details about the reasons of failure.

It's OK if service node provides only one IP address on the network interface. The only requirement, management node should be accessible from a service node. Ti check this, just ping management node IP from Windows server you are going to use. In addition, there is a tool to validate service node requirements that performs a number of checks including firewall configuration and it provides clear error reporting and instructions how to fix - http://download1.parallels.com/ppa/11.5/docs/en-US/online/ppa_deployment_guide/70083.htm#o71967.

    Hi,

The problem was under Azure the local IP address is not on the same subnet unless the VM's are attached to the same virtual network. I didn't realise at the time that inter server comms occur on the bound IP and no attempt is made to fall back to public IP hence the issue.

When implementing PPA under Azure or similar cloud VM's should be on the same subnet and this wasn't clear at the time.
