    Hi

We are big users of the web load balancing capability of HSphere - will MSP allow for load balancing of web and mail nodes?

    Hi, Stuart
We are planning to provide web clustering in Plesk and MSP later this year, but not in MSP 1.0.

Is that *real* web clustering of customer sites on multuiple machines to load balance and make fault tolerant?

As well as management nodes that can sit behind a BigIP, or are you simply talking about round robin provisioning or something else?

What would be ideal is to have a cluster of 4-5 machines, 3 of them being web servers that are clustered and load balanced, each containing every customer on that "cluster". Then also doing the other 2 with a management node.

On a seperate note, we really want this to also be able to use smarter mail as the mail server and share the mail servers between seperate nodes, along with MySQL and MsSQL as well.

Can you please advise on if this is going to be supported?

    Hi, ALL,

    1. We are working on a real web cluster. It will be available eventually, but not in the PPA 1.0 release.
    2. There will be ability to have dedicated mail and DB servers starting from the first release.
    3. We are reaching SmarterTools to see if they’d be interested in integration with our solution.

    Regards,
    Andrey

I spoke to one of their lead developers at the Summit, it was the first they had heard of PPA, and they were highly interested, I am sure you have his contact info already :)

Is there any way to back port smarter mail into the Plesk for Linux product since its already in the windows version?

I doubt smartermail (a windows product) will be back ported to plesk for linux, but that doesn't mean in the cluster with PPA you cannot combine a linux web platform, with a windows powered smartermail, should they get integrated.

We discussed this scenario a bit at the Parallels Summit, and that was understood some wanted to do this type of plan.

    Hi,
Just a bit of insight how the mail server is integrated with the PPA solution.
There are two integration modules. One is responsible for managing the server as a whole. This component depends on a particular mail server at use. For Postfix we are developing it in Plesk and will be exposing in the Admin UI of PPA. For another mail server it could be provided by a vendor and, for example, used autonomously, aside from our panel.
The second module is used to provision domains and mailboxes on the mail server. In our solution it is presented by an APS package integrated with the control panel. Our own implementation of the package remotely talks to the postfix server. But if a vendor of another mail system will provide a package with the same meta-data, i.e. with the same structure of services and their settings, well be easily talking to that mail server, be it on Unix or Windows platform. Moreover, we envision variations in the services and settings. While the basic settings are linked to the controls of our Mail tab UI screen, all additional parameters, if present, will be shown in the advanced settings area auto-generated like any other APS settings screen.
We are open to talk to any mail server vendor willing to prepare an APS package, which will link our CP with their mail server.

    Regards,
    Andrey
