Hi, I noticed FreeBSD is no longer listed on the supported guest OS list for VZ7. Does it (and any other non-listed OS) not work, or is it just not officially supported?

In our specific instance we have VMs running pfSense which uses FreeBSD.

    Thanks,

    Hi Steve,

It should be working, just there is no special support for it. Like, there are no Guest Tools for FreeBSD, and afaik we've never had one.
And QA does not test it explicitly. But there are no known issues about FreeBSD incompatibility.

Same goes pretty much for any other unlisted OS. Some very specific ones might really not work(as in "require specific configuration to work"), but I am not aware of such OSes.

Hi Pavel, thanks. After I posted I started trying to track down VZ7 licensing and got directed from Parallels to going direct with Virtuozzo, and they cc'd a sales engineer so I asked him. His response was similar:

"FreeBSD should work fine (we are fully upstream compatible with regular KVM: http://www.linux-kvm.org/page/Guest_Support_Status#FreeBSD) but I’m guessing it wasn’t tested and thus wouldn’t be something you’d be able to get full support on. No reason it shouldn’t work, however."

Hmm.... It's either a coincidence, or we both speak truth :D
