    Hi,

Could someone please explain how the ip address of a migrated container is announced to the network from the destination server in VZ 6? We use migrations a lot, but since moving to Juniper routers we either have to wait for the entry to time out or manually run arping. I want to find the exact command used by pmigrate so that I can manually test and find out what is going on.

    Thanks,

    Andrew

    Hello Andrew,

pmigrate itself does not perform arp announcement. Arp is announced when container is started.
To help you I need to know few details:
    1) what exact Virtuozzo version do you use? I'm asking because arp announcement method was changed in one of the major updates.
    2) what is the network type you use? bridged or host-routed?

    Hi Pavel,

    1) Virtuozzo release 6.0 SP1 (build 6.0.12-3658)
    2) The network type is routed

Arp announcement is performed using "arping".
It is invoked from a bash "library" with common functions for containers, /etc/vz/conf/vz-functions

Exact command is generated in function vzarpipset()
To learn exact command with IP you can add some debug output in there and stop&start a container.
