It seems that changing the IP of a web site (which I can't get to work) reactivates records from the default DNS template that have been deactivated...for example the default TXT records are activated, so now the domain may have two SPF records, only one of which is correct. Having multiple A or other records is potentially worse, if, say, "mail." now points to the wrong server.

After we added more domains and encountered this some more, it seems this bug only applies to TXT records (which would be SPF/SenderID, which would affect mail delivery). It happens when changing the IP of a site, or when reapplying the DNS Template. So instead of one SPF record there would be two.

On the plus side (kind of) according to Google having two SPF records should cause the SPF lookup to fail so it may not actually affect mail delivery, since having an invalid lookup is the same as having no SPF record. On the other hand the domain is no longer protected from forgery.

This was confirmed back in June: The case has been analyzed further, and submitted to the PA Service Team as internal issue with id #PPA-2503; the fix is considered to be included in one of the next Plesk Automation updates. The corresponding KB article has been published:

Steve, as I told, such cases are processed far better by support :)
