I would like to know if it's possible to download a full backup for a container from VZ/PCS, and then delete that container while still be allowed to recover it from backup if the need comes (aka client pays). I know CT backups are in /vz/backups and I've located the backup I would like to download, but I'm not sure if I will be able to recover the CT from backup if I delete the CT from VZ.

Also, how do I prevent the client from turning it on manually through OBAS without putting the client's account on hold?

    Hello KonstantinosS,

You can always restore container from a backup, even if container was lost or destroyed - that's the purpose of the backups after all.
If you're going to preserve some backup just make sure you've got entire chain (e.g. if last backup is Incremental - you'll need to preserve entire chain to make this backup "restorable", if you have only the last incremental backup - it's useless set of data).

As for the OBAS-related part, it's a separate question. I'd recommend you to ask it in a separate thread in corresponding forum branch - just to make sure OBAS specialist will see it.

Thanks @Pavel! I assume that restoring from backup is as easy as uploading it back to the server, or is the server backup deleted after a container is deleted?

Backup is never deleted on a container destruction, and yes, it should be as easy as upload it back to server.
Just one thing - once backup is copied PVA will not find out about the backup until it's restarted - that's the way it works - it caches list of backups in internal database.
To force backup list renew restart PVA Agent or call following binary manually:
    Code:
    # /opt/pva/agent/bin/vzbackupsync
Once it's called or agent restarted - backup should become available for restore.
